KOCHI: Seven persons involved in theft of electronic goods worth Rs 5 lakh were arrested on Saturday. The accused had been working as call taxi drivers in the city.
The robbery was concentrated around mobile phone shops in various parts of the city. The stolen goods largely involved mobile phones, laptops, computers, recharge coupons, cameras and wrist watches.
The stolen mobile phones were sold off at half the original prices to the shops at the GCDA complex. The police have recovered some of the stolen items from under the Chambakara Bridge.
The arrested are T P Nithin of Kodungaloor, M V Suneesh of Taliparamba, Saibu George Thomas, of Kozhenchery, Vishnu Babu, of Cherthala, Shereen Lal and Jerin Joy from Adoor. They were produced before the Aluva First Class Judicial Magistrate.
