HC upholds ban on freedom parade
KOCHI: The High Court sides with the government in the denial of permission to Popular Front in conducting freedom parades in Kollam and Kozhikode.
On the basis of a report submitted by ADGP(Intelligence), the court found true the government’s allegation that freedom parades are threat to religious harmony .
Popular Front has sought permission to conduct parades in Kottayam, Malappuram, Kollam and Kozhikode.
The government refused the conduct of parade in Kottayam and Malappuram and informed the court that it had not received the application for the other two districts.
When Popular Front submitted the application for Kollam and Kozhikode.again, the government denied permission and the former moved to court with a petition.
