A ‘special’ road movie for M’town

Mollywood has done experiments with road movies before- so what is special with Sanjeev Sivan's flick?

It is going to be a female-centric road movie which is the first-of-its-kind in Mollywood.

The story is written by Sanjeev Sivan, along with debutants, Pratish Nandhan and Hari.

The yet-to-be-titled movie will start rolling in December.

"It's a fun film and the story revolves around two girls who meet during a difficult phase in their life. They decide to go on a trip and confront several problems during the course of their journey," said Sanjeev.

"It's also a suspense thriller and a realistic take on what happens in our society," he added.

Rima Kallingal, plays a prominent role.

"I was so impressed by her performance in 22 Female Kottayam that I felt that Rima will be apt for this role; I felt that it would be next to impossible to do this project without Rima," says the director.

Rima will play the role of a happy-go-lucky character. The director is now on the lookout for the other female lead, who will play the wife of an alcoholic.

Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey, who will make his Mollywood debut with this movie, will essay the role of a cop.

Any guess on who is doing the background score?

Grammy Award-winning American musician, Richard Horowitz!

Throwing more insight into the story, the director said, "The film traces a road trip, which begins from Kochi and ends in Goa. The fun vacation these two girls embark on changes their future completely."

The director says, Mollywood is on a changing phase and is experimenting with a wide variety of subjects. "A few years ago, I would not have even thought of attempting such a movie in Malayalam. But thanks to the changes happening in the Malayalam film industry, I feel confident to experiment," he said.
