Reservation in recruiting aided staff: Open-minded discussion soon, says Mani

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Finance Minister K M Mani said that the matter regarding giving reservation in the recruitment of aided teaching and non-teaching staff shall be discussed by the government with an open mind.

He added that this matter should be discussed jointly by the ruling and opposition fronts.

CPM politburo member and former education minister M A Baby had introduced the matter of reservation.

Mani said that the logic behind introducing a matter which the LDF government could not materialise during its five-year tenure should be considered.

Mani was inaugurating the function held by Kerala Kaumudi to commemorate K Sukumaran, the founder editor of the daily, on his 31st death anniversary.

Mani said that Sukumaran was someone who fought against the hypocrisies of politics, injustice and violence.

He said that Sukumaran was a true disciple of Sree Narayana Guru and added that his broadminded ideas should prove to be the guiding light to our lives.
