KOZHIKODE: Cherusseri Zainuddeen Musliyar, noted Sunni Muslim religious scholar and general secretary of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama, died here Thursday. He died at a private hospital in the district at 7.15 am this morning. He was serving as the general secretary of Samastha from 1996 onwards. His body has been taken to his house in Kondotty. He would be buried at the Chemmad Darul Huda. He was 78.
He was born in 1937 to Cherusseri Ahamed Musliyar and Pathummunni. He had worked as Mudarris (religious teacher) at Kodangad, Kondoty, Malappuram for eighteen years. He also worked as Mudarris at Chemmad Juma Masjid for several years. He served as the Pro chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University, Chemmad, Kerala, Malappuram also. He was Quazi of hundreds of Mahalls in different parts of the state. He is Qhatheeb (Juma pray Imam) at Qaziyarakam Juma masjid, Kondotty, Malappuram.
