Important personalities offer Pongala

Popular social figures from different walks of life and their family members took part in the Attukal Pongala festival that concluded today. There are some film stars who come all the way here every year to make their offerings to Attukal devi. Most of those were present this time, too.

Congress leader A K Antony’s wife Elizabeth, like during the last year, had come to offer Pongala this time also. She was spotted at Eswara Vilasam Road. She said she dedicated the pongala to Women’s empowerment. Governor P Sathasivam’s wife Saraswathy Sathasivam, Ministers K P Mohanan’s wife Hemaja, K Babu’s wife Geetha and V S Sivakumar’s wife Sindhu offered Pongala.

.A group of about 50 women from Kannur sat in front of minister Mohanan’s house for the ritual. Saraswathy Sathasivam sat in front of Attukal Devi temple and Mahila Congress State president Bindhu Krishna sat near Chattampi Swami memorial on the temple premises. 

Tamil actor and director K Bhagyaraj’s son Shanthanu and wife Keerthy were seen sitting near S P Grand Days hotel to offer Pongala. Actor Suresh Gopi’s son Madhav Suresh offered Pongala, but he said it was for all tenth standard students’ success in examinations. Actresses Chippi, Radha, Jalaja, Vithubala, Sona Nair and singer Rajaleskhmi were also present.
