KOCHI: Director Rajesh Pillai was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi on Friday as his health was in a serious condition. He is put on a ventilator.
For a long time he has been under treatment for liver cirrhosis. Ironically, his new film Vetta, starring Manju Warrier and Kunchacko Boban, reached the theatres today. The director had had to undergo treatment in hospital several times in the course of the film’s shoot.
Rajesh Pillai debuted in film direction in 2005 with the film Hridayathil Sookshikkan. Following that, he directed Traffic in 2011 and it became super hit. Mili, starring Nivin Pauly and Amala Paul, was the film he directed before Vetta. In between the above films, he also completed the Hindi remake of Traffic. Megha Rajesh is his wife.
