THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following bickering over seat sharing with its new-found BDJS ally, the BJP is looking forward to striking friendship with Kerala Congress (M). As a first step in this direction, BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan has welcomed Kerala Congress (M) chairman K M Mani for alliance with the BJP. “If Mani gives the nod for alliance, BJP will come forward for talks with Kerala Congress (M),” he said.
Meanwhile, Kummanam said alliance with the BDJS is not at all a closed chapter. Only primary talks were held with them. A clear picture had not yet emerged on the BJP-BDJS alliance,” he added.
The BJP’s calculation is that if they are able to bring Mani to their side in the upcoming Assembly election, the BJP would be able to reap benefits in central Kerala where the Kerala Congress has a strong influence. Kummanan took this factor also into consideration when he invited Mani for alliance talks.
