KOCHI: The Vattupuzha Vigilance Court Thursday ordered to conduct a probe against film actor Jayasurya on the allegation that he encroached land near Chelavannur Lake. The actor is the fifth accused in the case. The court has directed Moovattupuzha DySP to probe the case.
The Kochi Corporation secretary had earlier informed the court that he had encroached the lake. The report says that he had encroached more than three cents. The complaint is that he illegally constructed a boat jetty and a compound wall at the place near the Chelavannur Lake. The accused in the case are V R Raju, a native of Kalamassery and former secretary of Kochi Corporation, former assistant executive engineer N M George, present assistant executive engineer A Nizar, Kanayannur Taluk head surveyor Rajeev Joseph and the actor.
The complaint was lodged by social activist Girish Babu. The complaint is that the actor constructed the house there after flouting coastal zone regulation norms and municipal building rules. Corporation building inspector who inspected the place had given a report confirming the complaint. The corporation had in 2014 ordered to demolish the illegal construction. The complainant approached the vigilance court as no action followed.
