KALLAMBALAM: A 30-year-old-youth was stabbed to death. The dead has been identified as Deepu, son of Thulaseedharan and Lathika Mani of Njekkad. The incident happened near the Chemmaruthi Akkaramangalam Temple in Kallambalam Friday early morning.
The accused identified as Aji, who fled the place soon after the incident, was handed over to the police by the local residents. He is an accused in many criminal cases and is a notorious goonda.
The police version is that when Deepu and his friends were standing in the temple premises, Aji, who was in the hospital following injuries sustained in a clash, came towards them and stabbed Deepu. Though his friends saw him falling they did not know that he was stabbed. The people standing there ran after Aji, caught him and then handed him over to the Kallambalam police. The people later saw Deepu lying on the road bleeding profusely. Though he was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved.
Deepu was as a driver of P & J Marbles of Vadasserikkonam. He leaves behind his wife Reshma, a student of ITI in Attingal and a sister. He got married three months before. After the inquest, the body has been shifted to medical college hospital for post mortem.
