ALAPPUZHA: A BJP activist was found hacked to death in the district. He has been identified as Venugopal (46), son of Gopinath Pillai. Venugopal was the mandalam secretary of the party. He was found lying in a pool of blood in front of his house at Kalavoor IT Colony Thursday morning at around 6 am.
He was the first accused in a case in connection with the murder of a CPM activist Yemmachan two years back. Previous enmity is suspected to be the reason for the murder. The police have so far not obtained any hint on the miscreants. A large contingent of police led by Mararikkulam circle inspector K G Aneesh is camping in the area. A hartal is being observed in places like Kalavoor and Mannancheri panchayat in protest against the murder.
