Diverse talks in Kerala Congress over future course of action

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Secret parleys are going on within the Kerala Congress regarding Finance Minister K M Mani’s resignation as more evidence are coming out against him in bar bribery case, according to sources. Though nobody is openly demanding Mani’s resignation, secretly they are doing so.

Many in the party eye Mani’s ministerial post and hence an internal strife can be expected over who would replace Mani. When some in the party want C F Thomas to be elevated to that position, others are batting for Mani’s son Jose K Mani. But Kerala Congress leader P C George has come out against Jose K Mani becoming the minister.
Meanwhile, some in the party wish for the resignation of P C George and P J Joseph, in case Mani resigns so that the party can give external support to the government. But Joseph group is against this and they even see Joseph as a suitable replacement for Mani .
