PALA: The hartal called by the LDF seeking the resignation of Finance Minister K M Mani in the bar bribe scam began here Saturday morning. A large contingent of police has been deployed here to avoid any untoward incidents. Shops remain closed. Private buses are not seen on the roads. Though some KSRTC buses were seen on the roads in the morning, they stopped services when the LDF protest began.
The hartal is observed in Pala assembly constituency and nearby panchayats like Kadaplamattom, Narangattupally, Uzhavoor and Veliyannoor. Almost 500 cops are deployed in Pala city by a team led by Pala DySP. The protest meet was inaugurated by CPM district secretary V N Vasavan.
