Woman pretends to be prospective bride, cons men

MOOVATTUPUZHA: Here is a woman who marries, not to lead a happy life but to make some quick bucks. Any number of time she would marry for money…for leading a posh life. She is Jiji Mathew, an expert in conning men with marriage offers. Jiji (40), hailing Perumbavoor, was arrested recently by Moovattupuzha police. However, she is known to his victims in different names.

The modus operandi was that Jiji would call up men who advertised in matrimonial columns. She would talk to them over phone in sweet voice for hours and days on end. Once they fell into the  virtual honey trap, she would arrange for a meeting with them, promise to marry them and take money and gold gifts from them. She would soon drug them and flee the spot. Sometimes she herself advertised in matrimonial columns and got in touch with men

Based on the complaint by a prospective bridegroom from Mooovattupuzha, police prepared a sketch of Jiji, published that in newspapers and finally trapped her.
