NEW DELHI: CPM Central leadership in its evaluation of the Aruvikkara poll outcome has noted that the party’s campaign had failed to take off.
“Though the party was able to raise the Solar scam issue, the allegations didn’t influence the election result. The party failed to convince people of allegations levelled against the government. The leaders talked about only peripheral issues. They could not present the real issue before the people in an effective manner. The allegations against the government were presented before people in a weak form. As a result, the party was not able to attract people’s attention towards those allegations. Targeting just the State government backfired and this resulted in BJP’s progress. The BJP could split anti-government votes that the Left would have garnered,” the party has observed.
