Three censor board employees arrested for leak of ‘Premam’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The anti-piracy cell Monday arrested three temporary employees of the censor board in connection with the leak of the censor copy of blockbuster Malayalam film ‘Premam’ directed by Alphonse Puthren.

The arrested has been identified as Arun, Lijin, natives of Nedumangad and Kumaran, native of Kovalam. The three are being questioned. The three were arrested based on solid evidence and the film was leaked from the censor board, said DySP M Iabal.

It was earlier found that the film was leaked from the copy given for censoring. The DVD of the film was handed over to the board on May 18. Two DVDs were taken but only one was handed over to them and the other one was destroyed as it did not have enough clarity.

As per censor board’s directive, ‘drinking & smoking is injurious to health’ was written in big letter in the DVD handed over to the board. The changes were made at the studio in the capital city. The copy with the changes made at the last minute was uploaded in the internet. Three students were earlier arrested in connection with the leak.
