THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Assembly’s Privileges and Ethics Committee Wednesday warned P C George for his statement against senior leader K R Gowri Amma. He was censured following the recommendation of the panel chaired by K Muraleedharan. This is for the first time in the history of the assembly a member is being warned.
The resolution for censuring George was presented by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He said George’s act is not suitable for the civility of the assembly. This was approved by the assembly through voice vote. These kind of statements should not be repeated, the speaker directed.
George was caught in a television sting operation indulging in an unparliamentary tirade against Gowri Amma and her husband, the late T V Thomas.
