Conspiracy behind B Ramachandran’s arrest?

THRIKKAKARA:  There are hints that the arrest of Ernakulam ADM B Ramachandran in bribery case was the outcome of a conspiracy. He is not in the good books of the district’s Congress minister and MLA, it is said.

Along with this, there has been a covert move to elevate an aide of a minister to the post of ADM. The minister, who belongs to a constituent party in the UDF, is currently holding an important position in the district administration . It was under these circumstances, efficient, well-behaved, soft-spoken ADM got arrested. Politicians could not influence him when he took unbiased decisions  in issues such as Irumbanam landfilling, Nettoor bridge construction and Thrikkakara land removing.

An ADM for three years, he had not courted any controversy till now. Moreover, he also had won government’s award for best service. He tactfully handled quarry licence, firecracker unit licence, sand mining and gun licence without any complaint. An LLM graduate, he has just a year’s service left. He was also expecting IAS post.

Ramachandran was arrested from his official residence recently on the basis of a complaint filed by firecracker vendor Lyons from Thrippunithura. The ADM is said to have rejected three application, which were the basis for the grudge against him and the complaint.

Ramachandran’s version is that Lyons had entered his house, left the money on the table and went out. When he took that money and walked out to return it to Lyons, he was arrested.
