KOZHIKODE: The verdict pronounced by the Supreme Court in the headgear controversy is not right, said Muslim League national secretary E T Muhammed Basheer. It can be seen as a law. Talking to reporters, he termed as ‘unfortunate’ not allowing the nun to write the exam. The court can simply say it but this was a matter that involves certain issues of faith, he said.
ET replied to K M Shaji on the lamp controversy. The League is firm in their stand of not lighting the lamp. It is a culture followed by the League for long and we don’t have plans to change it. Some are trying to create a controversy on it, he said.
Meantime, Social Welfare Minister Dr M K Muneer rejected ET’s stand. Lighting the lamp and not doing it is one’s personal thing. It is not practical from the side of any political party saying not to light the lamp. League alone taking that stand is narrow minded, he said.
