NEW DELHI: The UAE government has deported two natives of Kochi to India for allegedly propagating ISIS ideologies through social media. Besides disseminating ISIS propaganda, they are also said to have shared certain ISIS documents via facebook, which resulted in their deportation on August 29. For the same crime, eight other nationals were also deported to their respective countries.
However, other reports say that none of the above accused had gone to Iraq or Syria to join ISIS.
Though UAE Intelligence officials had interrogated Kochi natives, cases were not registered against them. They were made to attend a counselling session before their deportation. By the way, neither their names nor other details were revealed.
In the September 1st high-level meeting held in New Delhi, Home Secretary had issued instructions to take special steps to handle ISIS threat. It is speculated that most Malayalis who are ISIS loyalists are living in Gulf countries.
