THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Education department has frozen the highly controversial transfer of higher secondary school teachers in Kerala. The decision in this regard was taken following the directions of the Election Commission. The government has also cancelled the transfer of VHSE teachers.
Today’s government order will be effective till October 18. With this, teachers who have taken charge in their new school, will have to return to their old schools.
State Election Commission Secretary P Geetha had written to Higher Secondary Director to freeze the transfers in order to facilitate smooth conduct of local body elections. The government was also asked to cancel all transfers done after September 20. Transfer at this time would be a breach of Commission’s earlier order, it was pointed out.
