Actor Siddharth Bharathan seriously injured in accident

KOCHI: Actor and director Siddharth Bharathan (32) has been seriously injured after his car allegedly crashed into a roadside wall near here early Saturday morning, police said.

Siddharth who suffered a serious head injury in the smash that occurred at 2 am at Champakkara, has been admitted to the Medical Trust hospital here. The front portion of the car has been completely damaged in the impact.  He is the son of the noted director Bharathan and KPAC Lalitha.

The actor lost control of the Ford Figo car driven by him and then crashed into a wall on the road at Chambakkara near Thripunithura road in Ernakulam. The local residents of the area rushed to the spot hearing a noise and then took him out of the car. Hospital sources said his condition is serious but stable.

Actors Mammootty and Dileep visited him in the hospital, sources said.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala telephoned the hospital authorities to enquire about his health condition.

He entered the film industry through Kamal’s Nammal. His other films are Rasikan, Kakka Karumban, Spirit etc. Nidra and Chandrettan Evideya are the two films directed by him.
