NEW DELHI: The CPM central leadership Tuesday expressed regret on the crucifixion of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru during the Onam celebrations in Kannur.
A tableau portraying Guru being crucified at the hands of his supporters was staged at the Onam pageantry. It was not correct to portray Guru badly, the leadership explained. The state faction should have been more cautious. The CPM central leadership directed all factions to be more alert.
The tableau staged at Koovot in Thaliparambu was organised by the CPM’s children forum Balasangham. The staging of the tableau had hurt the sentiments of the followers of Guru.
