THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital city turned into a battlefield on Thursday when the DYFI clashed with the police demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar case.
The police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protestors. The DYFI activists reached the secretariat at 12 noon. The police stopped the march by lifting atop the barricades. In between that, stones were pelted towards the police.
Though V Sivankutty MLA and CPM Thiruvananthapuram district secretary Kadakampally Surendran tried to calm the activists, it was in vain.
