KOLLAM: Two youth among the six-member picnickers who were returning after visiting Athirappilly at Chalakkudy in Thrissur died on MC Road at Kottarakkara Mylath after they met with an accident.
The dead have been identified as Pulaman Neelamvila house resident Raju’s son Arun Raj (23) and Neeleswaram Palavilathekkathil Sabu’s son Sumith Christhy (20).
The Pulsar bike on which the two were travelling met with an accident at a deserted place near Mylam MGM School at 10 in the night. The mishap occurred when there was just 2km left to reach their home. The team included six polytechnic classmates and they were travelling on three bikes.
They all were residents of Kottarakkara and nearby areas. The students who were riding the bikes in the front were unaware of the accident. After they lost track of them, they rode back only to see their friends lying in a pool of blood.
Though the police and locals rushed them to Medical College hospital, Sumith Christy died by 11:30 pm on Sunday and Arun Raj died by around 4:30 morning today.
Before they died, they had told the police that a big vehicle had collided with their bike.
