Thursday, September 15, 2011: Tamil Nadu officials blocked the Kerala inspection team which had come to inspect the Mullaperiyar dam on Thursday. TN officials informed that inspection couldn’t be held without prior permission. The officials from Kerala Engineering Research Institute (KERI) had come to examine the wastage accumulated in front of the dam.
The TN officials allowed fixing the equipment for inspection but informed that it could be carried out after getting the permission of the TN PWD department. The waste is being examined prior to effort to destroy the old dam and construct a new one in Mullaperiyar.
