DCP sacked for registering case against women


Monday, March 12, 2012: Thiruvananthapuram Deputy Commissioner of Police- VC Mohanan has been suspended pending enquiry for registering case against women who took part in the Attukal pongala.
The police had registered a suo motu case against around 10,000 women for creating a road block and restricting free movement during the famous Attukal pongala festival held on March 7.
DCP was sacked following the report submitted by Additional chief secretary K Jayakumar and as per the direction of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The police had registered a case as per the Kerala High Court verdict imposing a ban on roadside meetings.
Meanwhile Chief Minister informed that the suo motu case registered against the women has been withdrawn and First Information Report (FIR) has been quashed.

this is absurd..what did that officer do...he was just doing his duty..moreover this kind of public is real nuisance to the free movement of traffic..im not sayin that it should be banned..but in a controled manner..ethoke 2 divasamayitu nadathiyal atleast thirakkozhinju kittum...people will never understnd wat im saying...athinu pongala divasam ningal thiruvananthapurathu pettu nokanam!
