Kingfisher Airlines stops operations from Kochi

Tuesday, March 27, 2012: The cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines has suspended its Kochi operations from Sunday onwards.
According to officials, the airport operator has received an official note from the airline with regard to the withdrawal of all its services on a temporary basis. The Kingfisher Airlines’s ticket counter at Nedumbassery airport has been closed.
With flights to Agati, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore every day, the airline was originally scheduled to operate as many as 28 services a week from Cochin airport during this summer season. In the last winter schedule, it had scheduled a total of 63 services a week including seven international flights to Colombo.
But even these services had been irregular for the past couple of months, with the airline cancelling a few flights almost daily. The cancellation of kingfisher flights will also make Air India the sole airline to fly the Kochi-Agati route.
