Medical fees: Talks remain inconclusive
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The talks between the State Government and Kerala Private Medical College Management Association on Friday remained inconclusive, with the former not committing to the fee pattern put forward by the Management Association.
The Association has agreed to a fees of Rs 3.5 lakh in government quota and Rs 7.5 lakh in management quota. This is in fact, double the fees at which admissions were given last year.
“We have put forward our stand, the government is non-committal. Talks will be resumed next week,” said a representative of the Association.
The government had intended to make the Association agree to a uniform fees structure as it had done with the medical colleges under the Inter-Church Council, for Education. The Inter-Church Council which had kept away from an agreement with the government last year, had come around agreeing to a uniform fee of Rs 3.45 lakh. It had even agreed to set up a scholarship fund of Rs 40 lakh to cater to BPL students.
