MCL scam: High Court stays Govt action

March 26, 2012: The Kerala High Court on Monday stayed the Government action to exempt the three accused in Malabar Cements scam including former chief secretary John Mathai.
The stay was given while considering the plea submitted by Anti Protection Council president Isaac Varghese. The state government had decided to cancel the proceedings against John Mathai, board members Krishnakumar and Padmanabhan Nair.
The HC directive came as a blow to the government. During the state budget meet of assembly, Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that the officials were exempted as they were innocent.
