Mass protest for drinking water on Monday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A mass protest demanding urgent steps to protect the Vellayani freshwater lake here would be held in front of the Secretariat on Monday. Eminent personalities from various walks of life would attend the event, said a release here on Sunday.
The demands include evicting the encroachers and implementing the applicable laws to save the lake from pollution and encroachment.
Poet Sugathakumari, Kanayi Kunhiraman, D Vinayachandran, Dr Vellayani Arjunan, Dr N A Kareem, Kureepuzha Sreekumar, Ajith Venniyoor, Kattoor Narayana Pillai, B D Dathan, Nemom Pushparaj, Karakkamandapam Vijayakumar, Raveendran Puthoor, E Vasu, Dr Vilakkudi Rajendran, Chandranandan, V C Abhilash, Shaji Joseph (Kadinamkulam Kayal Samrakshana Samithi) and Vinod Vaisakhi would attend.
