Most KSRTC accidents in capital district

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SCRB records show that in 2011, KSRTC buses accounted for 177 accidents in the district. Thiruvananthapuram City accounted for 76 of the mishaps, while Rural logged 101 accidents that year.
In fact, most number of KSRTC buses met with accidents in Thiruvananthapuram than in any other district, show statistics for 2011. Ernakulam City and Rural combined accounted for 157 accidents involving KSRTC buses, while Kozhikode district reported 51 KSRTC mishaps.
In all, KSRTC buses met with 846 mishaps statewide during 2011, while other buses - read private - accounted for 3,154 mishaps. The most were reported from Ernakulam district - 471, followed by Kozhikode - 431.
As many as 454 accidents involving autorickshaws also were reported in Thiruvananthapuram during 2011, according to the SCRB, while vehicles, including tippers, accounted for 110 accidents reported in the district.
