Fazal murder case: CBI serves notice to P Sasi

Tuesday, March 27, 2012: The CBI on Tuesday served a notice to former CPM Kannur district secretary P Sasi in connection with the murder of Muhammad Fazal, an agent of the NDF-run Thejus newspaper in Thalassery.
According to the notice, Sasi should report at the CBI office.
Fazal was murdered in the killing fields of Thalassery in the Marxist heartland of Kannur district on October 22, 2006. The subsequent police probes had become highly controversial with false conclusions and misplaced responsibilities,
It was in the context that Mariyu, widow of Fazal, had approached the High Court with the plea to hand over the case to the CBI.
