11-year-old kidney patient seeks help

KOCHI: Jayalakshmi, 11, daughter of Krishnankutty and Valsala, of Karaima near Chennithala, has been suffering from chronic kidney disease for the past two years. She is a class VII student of Mahatma Girls High school, Chennithala. Because of her condition, Jayalakshmi needs dialysis at regular intervals, which is quite expensive. Also, doctors have now suggested that her life could be saved with the help of a kidney transplant.      “Jayalakshmi also requires regular check-ups and  medication which costs `1.5 lakh per month,” certifies Dr K P Jayakumar, Head  of the Department of Nephrology at Kottayam Medical College, where she has been undergoing treatment since October 2010. However, Krishnankutty, who works as a labourer, is finding it increasingly hard to afford the expensive treatment required to keep his daughter alive.  Her family therefore seeks the help of people willing to lend a helping hand.  Those interested may make their contribution to the account with Canara Bank  (A/c No 1991101006899 ), Mavelikkara.
