3 held for assaulting police officer

KOCHI: Three persons were arrested for assaulting a policeman near the Harbour police station on Sunday. The arrested are Arun S Baby, Firoz and Alex T K. The incident occurred when civil police officer Ramendran of the Harbour police station was dining at a hotel near the station.
A person who was attacked by the arrested persons ran into the shop and sought the police officer’s help. When Ramendran interfered in the matter, the three persons attacked him. The injured Ramendran was later rushed to the Government Hospital.
According to police officials, three of them were in an inebriated state. The arrested persons were produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court and remanded in judicial custody.
