S Ajaya Prasad,SFI leader’s murder: 10 years’ RI for six accused
Monday, January 30, 2012: The Kollam Additional sessions Court has on Monday sentenced six RSS activists to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for the murder of S Ajaya Prasad, an SFI leader on July 19, 2007.
The accused were also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 each. Judge, R Sudhakaran had earlier found six RSS workers guilty of murder of the Students Federation of India leader.
Those found guilty are Sreenath, 25, Sabin, 28, Sanil, 30, Rajeevan, 24, Sunil, 26, and Sivaram, 27. All of them were found guilty under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code. Ajayaprasad was the Karungapally area secretary of the SFI. The incident took place on July 19, 2007, when Ajayaprasad was standing near a shop at the Thottathil junction at Clapana.
The prosecution, led by advocate Paripally Raveendran, convinced the court that the RSS activists who arrived on motorcycles stabbed and attacked Ajayaprasad with iron rods. He was rushed to the Karunagapally Taluk Hospital and then referred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on July 20. Twenty-four witnesses gave testimonies in favour of the prosecution.
