Witness in sensational Abhaya case turns hostile

Wednesday, January 18, 2012: K. G. Sivadasan, the witness in a case relating to alteration of results of the forensic chemical examination conducted on Sister Abhaya’s internal organs to make her alleged murder in 1992 appear as a suicide, has turned hostile.
Sivadasan is the chief chemical examiner. Court here had earlier directed for a fresh chargesheet against Dr Chitra and Dr Geeta for altering the results. Judge Kamal Pasha ruled that the chargesheet submitted earlier in connection with the case cannot be accepted.
The Court also rejected the petitions filed by Dr. Chitra and Dr. Geeta requesting to annul the case against them.
Technical examinations revealed that doctors Chitra and Geeta, who were employed in the Chemical analysis laboratory, had made corrections in Sister Abhaya’s investigative report about her internal organs. The former assistant chemical examiner of the Hyderabad Central Forensic Lab Y Surya Prasad had earlier testified this.
The doctors had made corrections in 8 places in the register. They have corrected `positive’ to `negative’. The register had both these doctors hand writing, Surya Prasad had testified before the CJM court. The court had accepted this testimony. It was Jomon who had filed a plea with the court.
