Shanimol letter: Evidence will not be taken from Sudheeran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When the counting of coins stored in Kanikkapura (room where temple donations are kept) ended, what was found was Rs 18, 96, 864.

There were Indian coins worth Rs17,59,810 and priceless foreign currencies worth Rs 1,37,054 . Out of that Rs 1,08,330  were US dollars.

The coins counted were donations received from October last year to January this year. The donations received from February this year is kept locked inside hundis (iron donation boxes). The counting of the above will begin from next Wednesday.
After counting the money in all hundis, arrangements will be made to repeat the procedure every week. At Kanikkapura and linked paths, six CCTV cameras have been installed as part of precautionary measures.

Earlier, the custody of donations was given to individuals and from now onwards that responsibility will be entrusted with Dhanalakshmi bank. The 9 am-8 pm counting which started on May 7 took three days to complete. The job was done by a 22-member team from Dhanalakshmi bank under the supervision of Additional District judge K P Indira-headed panel.
