Holes spotted on railway track in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: Detection of 34 holes on the metal part of the railway track in Kozhikode on Friday has given room for suspicion that attempts were made to sabotage the railway track. Neatly ‘drilled’ holes were spotted at Kundayithodu between Kallayi and Kozhikode. (Kallayi is ten metres away from Kozhikode.)

The holes came to the notice of the railway officials when they were carrying out the routine check-up. The official pointed out that it was impossible to make such five mm-radius holes without the help of machines. They thoroughly suspect sabotage motive behind the incident. The officials have stated searching for clues.

Meanwhile, the local residents staying near by are in the dark as to when it could have happened. They say they don’t remember hearing any drilling sound or seeing any person under suspicious circumstances. This information had added to the mystery surrouding the holes.

A team comprising City police Commissioner A V George and RPF Inspector Anil Kumar has rushed to the spot and started investigation. Nallalam police and railway protection force have filed a case over the incident.
