Changes seen after closure of bars should be accepted: Sudheeran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Political leadership and officials should be ready to accept the changes seen after the closure of 418 substandard bars, said KPCC chief V M Sudheeran. The policy of the congress and the UDF is to reduce the availability of liquor and its consumption. More steps will be taken by standing within the policy, he told reporters.

Crime and accident rates have come down considerably after the closure of bars. A drop has been seen in the number of people lying on the roads in a drunken state. All these show the closure of bars has been beneficial.  Everyone should accept this, he said.

The demand for a reshuffle in the wake of polls is reasonable. The reshuffle was temporarily stopped by the announcement of polls. An unexpected defeat was witnessed in some constituencies. The party executive to be convened on May 29 will examine it, he said.
