Sabarimala: Executive officer loses post, 'Pariharakriya' to be conducted

KOTTAYAM:  Devaswom board’s emergency meeting has decided to conduct Parihara kriya (atonement rituals) in the aftermath of two girls including chief priest’s daughter visiting Sabarimala temple against tradition.

Parihara kriyas will be held on May 14 and 15. Chief priest P N Narayanan Namboothiri would be asked to bear expense of the rituals. The meeting also decided to remove Temple Executive Officer B Mohandas from his post in the wake of the controversy.

The meeting entrusted Devaswom Commissioner with the responsibility to submit a detailed report on the incident. The report should be submitted in a month’s time. Based on the report, a decision will be taken for further action against the chief priest. It was decided not to engage him in temple activities once his term ends.    

Others who may face action include Sopanam Special Officer Prasanna Kumar, Former Staff  who was on Pamba duty Shobha, Laila, Devaswom Guard K P Gopakumar, Chief priest’s gunman Radhakrishnan and two woman police officers.
