THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: C-apt managing director Sajith Vijayaraghavan has been suspended following allegations in connection with the irregularities in the printing of textbooks and lottery.
He was suspended by the intervention of Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. The education department was against suspending him, but the home department rejected it. The report of the finance department given was that C-apt handed over the printing to a private press after hiding the information that they cannot print 43 lakh textbooks in a short time. The report says corruption of 1.36 crore has taken place by giving the tender.
Meantime, Sajith Vijayaraghavan has explained that no corruption has taken place. The cabinet convened on June 6 handed over the printing of 43.5 lakh text books to C-apt after KBPS could not complete the printing in time. They were asked to complete printing by June 20.
Only a big fat printing press able to print 4.5 lakh textbooks daily can do it and that is why C-apt invited e-tenders, Sajith said.
