NEW DELHI: Reports say that 50-60 ministers will be sworn in along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapathi Bhawan. There is a possibility for Kummanam Rajashekharan from Kerala to get a ministerial berth. As per the invitation from BJP, Kummanam left for New Delhi Thursday morning. It is not clear whether he was invited for the swearing in function as a former governor or to induct him in the cabinet. The names of V Muraleedharan, Suresh Gopi, Alphons Kannamthanam and P C Thomas are also heard.
Meantime, Alphons Kannamthanam is likely to continue as union minister. Eight to ten people from allied parties may get cabinet berths. President Ram Nath Kovind will administer the oath of office to Narendra Modi, assuming power for the second consecutive term. The swearing in ceremony will take place at 7 pm in an open venue in the premises of the Rashtrapathi Bhawan. Nearly 6500 guests will attend the function. Heads of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhuatn have been invited for the swearing-in ceremony.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and congress chief Rahul Gandhi will attend the function. Meantime, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not attend the function.
Ahead of being sworn in, Modi paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and BJP veteran late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Thursday morning. BJP chief Amit Shah, other party leaders and military chiefs accompanied Modi.
