NEW DELHI: The target for the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, according to the party’s national secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh and Tripura, Sunil Deodhar is 333. The party is all set to assume office for a second term.
Deodhar said the party is planning to assume power attaining 333 seats in the polls to be held in 2024. Deodhar is the secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh and Tripura. The party won 282 seats in 2014 and 303 in 2019.
The party will next focus on states from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu to get the 333 seats in the next polls. The party is planning to influence states including Kerala, he said in an interview to Hindustan Times.
Deodhar however pointed that Mission 333 can be possible only if BJP overcomes the perception of being a party of and for Hindi speakers. He said that he has started to learn Telugu, and that he mastered Bengali after being asked to help oversee the party’s march in the East and the North East. The party has initiated efforts to strengthen organizational activities in the southern states. The party will convene a meeting to discuss the situation of various states. The BJP will start holding meetings to discuss the way ahead. The first such is scheduled for Tuesday in Kerala.
The BJP won 25 of the 28 seats in Karnataka and four of the 17 in Telengana, but could not secure even one seat in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The party got two seats in 2014 and 18 in 2019. The party is planning to deliver results similar to those in West Bengal. Deodhar is one among the national leaders who snatched Tripura from the CPM. Deodhar, a senior RSS leader was appointed in the party to strengthen the BJP.
