NEW DELHI: V Muraleedharan, newly inducted into the Narendra Modi cabinet said the portfolios allocated to him are heavy and challenging. He obtained Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Muraleedharan said that he is expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for giving him a chance to work with two senior cabinet ministers. Kerala is one of the states having more Non-resident Keralites (NRK). I hope that I will be able to intervene in their problems and solve them, he added.
Talking to the media, he said the air fare is seriously affecting them and a solution would be found to it. I am happy to work with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahalad Joshy. A solution would be found to the problems of NRKs and other issues will be solved after consulting with other states, he said.
The 100-day action programme of Modi Government will be announced soon. It is hinted that there will be a huge economic reform. 42 public sector firms including Air India will be privatised. Labour laws will be liberalized. Land will be acquired for the development of industries and land banks will be set up. The first meeting of second Modi cabinet will be convened at 5 pm today. 58 including V Muraleedharan were sworn in yesterday.
