BJP to secure 75,000 votes in Kollam; possibility of conflict after result

KOLLAM: As per the district committee of BJP, the party will be able to amass 1.25 lakh votes from Kollam Lok Sabha constituency. Although the reports from several booths claim the number to be around 1.75 lakhs, a realistic evaluation expect the number to be around 1.25 lakh. In the last Lok Sabha polls, the BJP candidate P.M. Velayudhan secured 57,000 votes. In the Panchayat-Municipal-Corporation elections that followed, BJP got around 1.75 lakh votes from the Kollam Lok Sabha constituency. This was followed by 1.5 lakh votes in the assembly election.

The special branch has reported about 75,000 votes for the BJP from Kollam. There were reports that LDF’s K.N. Balagopal will win with a majority of 20,000 votes over Premachandran. But the state intelligence predicts a win for N.K. Premachandran.

Reports from the secret intelligence agency suggest a possibility for attacks once the results are out. The conflicts during the last day of election campaign between the BJP and the LDF activists and the recent conflict between CPI (M) and Congress at Pallithottam could lead to another clash.
