Monday, August 1, 2011: The Justice MR Hariharan commission probing the Sabarimala tragedy on January 14, informed that the interim report on the tragic incident would be submitted to the government within two months.
Retired judge of High Court, Justice M R Hariharan Nair was addressing the reporters after the Commission’s sitting here on Monday.
102 pilgrims had lost their lives and around 70 injured in the stampede that occurred near Vandiperiyar when the pilgrims were rushing back after offering prayers at the hill shrine on ‘makara samkranthi’ day.
Soon after the tragedy, the government had announced a judicial probe into the circumstances of the mishap and sought the services of a sitting High Court judge.
