THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the Supreme Court directive upholding the entrance test conducted by the Kerala Private Medical College Managements Association (KPMCMA), and the agreement reached with the State Government, the managements have began the admission process to the 11 medical colleges under them.
KPMCMA secretary Abdul Jabbar told that the admissions to management quota seats will be completed before August 31. There is time till September 30 for completing government quota admissions, he said.
September 30 is the deadline prescribed by the Medical Council of India to complete the admissions to government quota seats. The deadline was fixed on the basis of an earlier Supreme Court directive.
There are a total of 11,000 seats in the 11 medical colleges. The managements can make admissions on their own to 50 per cent of the seats including 15 per cent in the NRI quota.
Sources however, said that the probability of including self-financing medical colleges in the third round of allotment to be published on August 30 by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) for government quota seats is very remote. The students who are included in the third allotment of the CEE have to pay their fees/additional fees on August 31, September 1 and 2. The students included in the third round of allotment of CEE will have to get admitted to colleges on September 1 and 2.
The candidates were given time till 3 p m on Sunday to visit the official website of the KPMCMA and exercise his/her options online for management quota seats.
The final allotment list will be published in the official website of KPMCMA on Monday. The allotted candidates have to take admission to the college concerned on or before 5 pm on August 31 with demand draft of the tuition fee for the first year of the course and refundable interest free deposit and bank guarantee as required under Clause 6 of the prospectus.
Candidates should also produce the proof of age, qualification etc. at the time of admission. Those who fail to comply with the above will not be considered for admission.
The allotment and admission from the provisional rank list will be provisional and subject to further orders on the Special Leave Petition pending before the Supreme Court.
