Anna Hazare ends 13-day fast

Sunday, August 28, 2011: Anna Hazare has ended his 13-day long fast, after the Parliament cleared his three demands late last evening.
He broke the fast by having coconut water and honey.
Team Anna took the media opportunity to thank each and every organisation and the public in general for having supported the people’s movement.

“This the victory of the people of India. All the efforts that you have put in in the last 13 days, have born fruit. I would like to thank the media for helping this victory happen. I thank those who continuously cared for my health. I want to thank the members of the civil society,” he said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s letter was handed over to Anna by Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, following which Anna announced that he would be breaking his fast today.
As soon as he breaks the fast, he will be admitted to Mdanta Medicity hospital in Gurgaon.
