South-west monsoon active over Kerala

Wednesday, August 31, 2011: South-west monsoon has been active over Kerala and rain occurred at most places in Lakshadweep. Heavy rainfall reports in cm are – Thrissur 9, Irikkur (Kannur district) 8 and Kannur 7.

The other chief amounts of rainfall reports in cm are – Enamackel (Thrissur district), Kudulu (Kasaragod district), Vadakara (Kozhikode district) & Vythiri (Wayanad district) 6 each and Kozhikode, Ottappalam & Thrithala (both in Palakkad district), Piravom (Ernakulam district), Thaliparamba (Kannur district) & Thiruvalla (Pathanamthitta district) 5 each. Another 52 stations reported rainfall of 1 cm to 4 cm.
Forecast and farmers weather bulletin valid until the morning of 2nd September 2011: Rain/thundershower will occur at most places in Kerala and at a few places in Lakshadweep.
Heavy rainfall warning:- Isolated heavy rainfall will occur in Kerala during next 48 hours.
Outlook for subsequent two days (3rd– 4th September): No significant change.
Fishermen warning: Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph is likely along & off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep area during next 24 hours.
Forecast for Thiruvananthapuram city and neighbourhood valid until the morning of 2nd September 2011: Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of shower/thundershower.
